Taking the first step to talk with a counsellor can sometimes feel daunting. As a fully qualified person-centred counsellor I'm here to listen and provide a safe, confidential environment in which you can start to make sense of your difficulties and feelings.
A registered member of BACP and COSCA, I offer a professional therapeutic service, guided by and compliant with the professional code of ethics and standards for practice.
I offer support to both individuals and couples, providing you with a safe space in which to work through whatever the difficulty or issue. I aim to help every client find a way through their problems, to move forward, make changes and build the life they'd like to live.
I work in line with two therapeutic approaches.
Person-centred counselling offers clients the opportunity to explore and make sense of their own experiences. It's a form of therapy that can aid in self understanding and awareness, helping you to make better choices, find solutions and peace within yourself.
Emotion focussed therapy is geared towards helping us understand and rebalance our emotions. Often if we are overwhelmed, stressed, or numb we can struggle to truly connect or process how we feel. This form of therapy realigns our sense of self, our feelings and emotions with focus placed on what we can do to take appropriate action or help ourselves.
Having had the support of counselling myself in my own personal life, I have seen and felt the real benefit of being able to talk things through with someone who can listen. Someone who can provide not just expertise but a real sense of companionship throughout the process.
Prior to counselling, I held many roles in both the private and public sector, ranging from customer service to operational management. I gained extensive experience in supporting, coaching and leadership.
As a counsellor I have worked in a variety of contexts, as part of the general therapy team at the Priory Hospital in Glasgow and with Cancer Support Scotland in the West End of Glasgow. I have also worked voluntarily with a number of charities and organisations.
